Dana White says he already knows where the long-awaited Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight is going to happen but he is not ready to reveal the location.
“I have all the information,” White last Sunday night at the Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela vs. Edwin De Los Santos 2 post-fight press conference in Las Vegas when asked about the heavyweight showdown.
When asked if he would promote the fight, White replied: “See what Turki (Alalshikh) says at the peace summit. As I told you. I know where it is. And I never said Las Vegas.”
White’s comments suggest that plans for one of boxing’s biggest potential fights are already well advanced, even if an official announcement has yet to be made. Rumors have linked the fight to several locations in recent months, with Las Vegas frequently mentioned as a possible destination. However, White made it clear that he never identified the city of Nevada as the host.
Joshua and Fury have been talking about fighting each other for years, but the long-awaited showdown has never been completed.
Turki Alalshikh has made the fight one of his top priorities and has previously indicated that talks are underway. White’s reference to the upcoming peace summit suggests a formal announcement could come as soon as Alalshikh addresses the media.
White also did not want to confirm whether Zuffa Boxing will officially promote the event, instead turning attention back to Alalshikh’s expected announcement. Since the launch of Zuffa Boxing, White has repeatedly stated that his company intends to become a major player in the sport while working with Alalshikh on select events.
If Joshua vs. Fury is finalized, it will rank among the greatest heavyweight attractions of the modern era. Both former champions remain two of boxing’s biggest commercial draws, and a long-awaited meeting between them has been one of the sport’s most anticipated bouts for nearly a decade.
