In the women’s 800m, Audrey Vero clocks 1:54.45 at the Golden Spike meet, while Noah Lyles runs a world record 14.67 over 150m.
Audrey Vero held off Femke Broders-Bol’s challenge in the women’s 800m at the Golden Spike in Ostrava on Tuesday (June 16th), but Yarmila Kratochvilova’s long-standing world record of 1:53.28 stood after Verro clocked 1:54.45.
The Swiss runner wasn’t as fast as she was in Stockholm, where she clocked 1:53.98 to beat Keeley Hodgkinson. But it was still a good run as she calmly finished past former 400m hurdler Broders-Bollitz, the Dutchwoman, clocking 1:57.13 in only her second attempt at the distance, putting her at No. 3 on the Dutch all-time rankings.
After pacesetter Nikola Bissova went through the 400m in 55.8, Verreau soon found himself in front, with Broders-Boll hot on his heels. Broders-Boll looked relaxed throughout, but with 200 meters to go some cracks began to emerge and Verreau spun off the final bend to extend his lead into the home straight.

“It’s been a crazy run. The timing is really good so I’m very happy with my race today. It wouldn’t be off the record because I was alone, but I’m still happy because it’s so early in the season.
