Jesse Rodriguez says Naoya Inoue clash will come in time

“I just have to keep doing my job, keep winning wins, and that fight is going to come,” Rodriguez told Fight Hub TV when asked if he still believes a meeting with Inoue is inevitable.

“Like I said, it’s inevitable at this point. So, I just have to keep doing my job, keep winning.”

Rodriguez has been repeatedly linked to Inoue in recent months, particularly following the Japanese star’s win over Junto Nakatani. However, Bam also indicated that he still sees himself growing in higher weight classes.

“I kind of agree with you. I’m still young. I feel like I still have my man power to grow into. So, I mean, it’s just a matter of time. I’ve got to, like I said, keep doing my job and that’s to win,” said Bam Rodriguez.

Inoue, now 33 years old, turned professional in 2012 and competed at the world level for 14 years. Rodriguez is now 26 and only in his ninth year as a professional.

Although fans are still clamoring for one of boxing’s most anticipated bouts, Jesse made it clear that looking over Vargas would be a mistake.

“If I don’t get past this fight, then everything goes out the window. So, I’m saving it for after the fight. I’ve got to do my job and make sure I get the job done on Saturday,” Bam said.

Rodriguez also praised Vargas’ credentials before their meeting.

“I think his resume, his experience, you know, he’s an Olympian guy. That says a lot. It takes a lot of winning and a lot of skill to even become an Olympian,” Rodriguez said of Vargas.

“People don’t know his name, so they just assume he’s a nobody. But real boxers, they know. And I’m a real boxer. So, that’s why I trained my ass for this fight.”

Victory over Vargas would add another world title to Rodriguez’s growing collection and intensify calls for a future clash with Inoue. Rodriguez has repeatedly stressed that Vargas remains his priority and that discussions about Inoue can wait until after Saturday’s fight.
