Pedro Acosta has admitted he wants to be ‘half as good’ as Marc Marquez, citing his ‘respect’ for the MotoGP legend.
In the year Ahead of its MotoGP debut in 2024, Acosta was being compared to Marquez.And some even saw him as ‘the next Marquez’. These comparisons, although he hated them, were not surprising as he constantly found himself ahead KTM Machinery.

“For me, what makes Mark one of the greats is not what he achieved, but how much it cost to take him.
“Quatarro, Peco in his day, Martin, these guys are talented, and you’re coming back from a tough year to get back what’s yours, let’s say.
“I thought he was thinking of this, and he found it, and he took it out of the cup to say, ‘Man (there) there was no one who served better than you.’
“If a man’s that good, you should know. I hope one day he’ll be half as good, or take half of what he’s got. I don’t respect him for how much he’s won in the end. Maybe I’ll respect him more after how much he’s suffered to get it back.”

Pedro Acosta says he will be ‘wherever you want’ as a team-mate like Marc Marquez.
Acosta will be Marquez’s team-mate at Ducati in 2027.Replacing Francesco Bagnaia. Many are describing it as an all-out war as they get equal machinery to fight the latter.
Apria Acosta is not too keen on joining Ducati.Because the Italian manufacturer will have two Spanish drivers in the factory team. However, the 22-year-old, predictably, when asked how it feels to share a garage with Marquez, considers it an ‘honour’ to miss out on him.

“It will be a good test,” he added. “I mean, I think, for whatever reason, I’m not going to win the championship, but I’m going to fight him until the end,[in my head]it’s going to be, ‘OK, you’re where you want to be now, you’re in that spot.’
“Even if I lose, let’s say it would be an honor to lose to him. But at least I’ll have the same things as him and a chance to win the championship. I’ll have a low, real comparison to this, let’s say.”
