Hold the phone: Those new Kirkland Gen 3 signature forged wedges are now available

The much talked about and highly promised Kirkland Signature Gen 3 Forged Wedge set is now available.

If I were you, I would hurry.

Three forged wedges for $199.99 is one of those deals that’s too good to pass up, even if you don’t need new wedges.

Heck, it’s pretty good to pass even if you don’t play golf.

Here’s what we know…

Kirkland Signature Gen 3 – online and in store

The Kirkland Signature Gen 3 Forged Wedges landed on the USGA conforming list in April. At the time they were expected to hit retail anytime between eight and 20 weeks later. It would be almost eight weeks on the button. We found the Kirkland Signature Gen 3 wedges on the Costco website this morning. We can only assume that means they are either in stores now or will be soon. Some early adopters have already posted reviews and, as you can imagine, they are positive.

Despite the images initially provided to the USGA, it appears that this initial offering is only available right-handed.

If you want tinted lofts or game-specific heel grinds, you won’t find it at Costco. What you’ll find is a three-piece forged wedge set with standard lofts: a 52-degree gap wedge, a 56-degree sand wedge, and a 60-degree wedge. Kirkland says the wedges are forged from carbon steel, but they’re non-specific on the mix, so we don’t know if it’s 1020, 1025 or even 8620 (yes, you can forge that too, sort of).

Each wedge contains a raw, sanded face. Raw faces tend to improve spin due to the lack of an actual coating or finish, but they will oxidize (aka rust) over time, which does not improve spin. The Kirkland Signature Gen 3 wedge set also features a progressive center of gravity. This means that as the lofts increase, so does the CG. This is to improve trajectory control for lower-flying, higher-spinning wedge shots.

The line also includes a Kirkland Signature Wedge Flex shaft, which we don’t know much about, and a Lamkin Crossline 360 grip.
