IPL 2026: Harbhajan Singh sets up key turning point in RCB’s win over GT

Speaking after the final, Harbhajan pointed to a crucial point during which he felt Gujarat Titans’ innings swung the contest heavily in RCB’s favour. The former bouncer explained why this dismissal had a significant impact on the outcome of the title clash in Ahmedabad.

During a discussion on JioHotstar, Harbhajan was asked about his importance Shubman Gill’s Dismissal in IPL 2026 final. The former India spinner did not hesitate to describe it as the biggest success of the match for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

“It was a big wicket. It was the best thing that happened to RCB in this game because his dismissal meant that half the game was in their bag. He was the main scorer in consecutive runs and he could hit any bowler. He single-handedly won his team with the previous innings he played,” stated.

Gill came into the final after enjoying another outstanding IPL campaign and was expected to play a major role in Gujarat Titans’ quest for a second title. However, the GT skipper managed just 10 runs off eight deliveries, a Josh Hazlewood to deliver and offer to hold Rajat Patidar.

Early setbacks put Gujarat Titans under pressure

Harbhajan also suggested that Gill might be a little hasty in his approach, given that Gujarat Titans batted first in a high-pressure final. According to the former spinner, the wicket not only strengthened RCB but also dealt a major blow to Gujarat’s plans.

“He probably thought he could delay that innings. In the first innings, sometimes you think how many runs are needed and the team against them is RCB, who have a lot of innings. I feel he was a bit hasty. It was a big moment for RCB, but it was the worst moment for GT today, and then Sai Sudharsan fell to first.”

Gujarat Titans’ problems deepened soon after Gill left Sai Sudharsan 12 dismissed off 12 balls. The left-hander tried to hit the opponent Bhuvneshwar Kumar but he could pass the ball to the goalkeeper Jitesh Sharma. The twin setbacks prevented Gujarat Titans from building the strong platform that has become a hallmark of their batting throughout the season, struggling at 26/2 in the power play.
