Floyd Schofield Sr. call Shakur Stevenson C-level

The Shakur I see now is a C-level fighter,” Schofield Sr told Fighthype.

He repeatedly questioned who actually beat Stevenson to draw comparisons to fighters such as Terence Crawford, Andre Ward and Floyd Mayweather Jr. to earn

“But what I mean by nothing is who did he fight that made him something?” Schofield Sr. said.

Schofield Sr. pointed to Stevenson’s win over Lopez, but argued that one win shouldn’t automatically elevate a fighter in pound-for-pound conversations.

“The only one who got Shakur on his record is Teo,” he said. “And Teo is not A-level if he lost to Kambosos.”

Schofield Sr. also questioned why Stevenson is often mentioned alongside some of boxing’s most accomplished fighters, arguing that much of the praise comes from the company he keeps rather than his achievements in the ring.

“Why do you think they compare him to Floyd Mayweather so much?” Schofield Sr. said. “Association and Top Rank got big money to market.

“They put him on that level because Andre Ward is there and he’s the next Floyd and he’s the next this. It’s like, yo, you all realize this guy lost in the Olympics?”

The comments are the latest chapter in the ongoing feud between the Schofield camp and Stevenson following the collapse of their planned fight in Saudi Arabia last year.

Despite Shakur’s success across multiple weight classes, Schofield Sr. remains. convinced his son will expose what he sees as flaws in the Newark native’s game.

Shakur doesn’t stand a chance against Kid,“Said Schofield Sr. “They got the same style. It’s a flawed style.”
