Femke Broeders-Bol returns to the Ostrava Golden Spike
Prague, May 19, 2026 – The 65th anniversary edition of Golden Spike Ostrava, scheduled for June 16, 2026, will feature an exceptionally strong program. Dutch track queen Femke Broders-Boal returns to Ostrava, while fans can also look forward to multiple world record attempts. One of the most anticipated clashes of the season will take place in the 150m, where Noah Lyles and Gaut Gut will go head-to-head on the Witkowitz track in pursuit of the all-time best. Over 1000m, Josh Hoy and Mohamed Ataoui will set the world record. The main program starts at 17:30.
The appearance of the obstacle course superstar and multiple world champion Femke Broders-Boll is a key point of interest. Since her last visit to Ostrava, where she finished third in the flat 400m in 49.98, she has undergone significant changes. After winning his second straight world steeplechase title in Tokyo, he decided to step up to the 800m. Ostrava will mark its first major outdoor 800m race. She made her Metz debut by winning the silver level meet in 1:59.07.

In the men’s 100m, organizers traditionally target the under-10s. The leader of the field is the world champion of indoor sports Jordan Anthony from the USA, who clocked 9.91 in Florida in April and recently won the 200m at the Tokyo gold meet. His main competitor will be his fellow American Ronnie BakerExperienced Olympic finalist with a personal best of 9.93, who last year broke 10 seconds on Slovakian soil (9.94).

The highlight of the meeting will be the sprint duel Noah Lyles and: Gout gout more than 150 m. It will be their first head-to-head fight, with both targeting Jamaican Thompson’s 14.92. Lyles confirmed his excellent form with a 9.95 100m victory in Tokyo, while Gout Gout is widely regarded as the most exciting sprint talent in recent years, with the potential to achieve Usain Bolt-like performances. His current form will be on display at the Diamond League in Oslo, where he is scheduled to run the 200m.

Another exciting clash will be in the 1000m, where the world indoor 800m champion Josh Hoy accepts Spain Mohamed Ataouiboth in top form and on target for the world record.

Obstacle events will also feature updated, star-studded courses. The new indoor world champions came out of Torun. In the women’s 100m hurdles, Devin Charlton (BAH) arrived after lowering his national record to 12.38 in China. He will face the Dutch record holder Nadine Visser (12.28 PB) and Poland Pia Skrzyszowska (12.37). The 12.42 meeting record of 2023 is under serious threat. Joining him is the reigning European champion Lorenzo Simonelli of Italy (NR 13.05). The Czech Republic’s leading hurdlers will also be on the starting line.
