More from the MotoGP press release:
Denmark take charge in Barcelona on Friday. The Malaysian star led the field early on Friday morning and ended the day on top.
It’s been ten years since a Malaysian rider topped the timesheets in any session in Moto3 and then two P1s come together at the same time. Haakin Dane (AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSI) has been in action not only in FP1, but he is a rider who has had surprises through the Moto3 order.
Setting the pace throughout the day and afternoon, the Dane got to work and took advantage of the clear track to set a 1’46.943 – the only rider in Moto3 to break into the 1’46 bracket. He led the KTM 1-2 from Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo) while top Honda honors went to Adrian Fernandez (Tiger Racing), the Spaniard coming off the back of two consecutive podiums at Jerez and Le Mans.
Next up was 2025 pole sitter David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Inact GP Team), while Valentin Perrone climbed to P5 after a slow start in the morning. Matteo Bertelle (LEVELUP-MTA) completed the top 6, while championship leader Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) took seventh.
Big names unable to find a direct route to Q2 included David Munoz (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) who initially moved to P10 on the final flying lap but was ruled out for yellow flags. He was joined by Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) who crashed for the second consecutive practice session and found himself in Q1, with Guido Pini (Tiger Racing) third in a row.
