While the top of the leaderboard is very crowded as players participate Aronimink Golf Club during the second round of 2026 PGA Championshipthe real drama on Friday will come around the cut line.
See below for a summary of the PGA Championship cut rules, where the cut line is predicted to drop and the biggest names at risk of going home early.
PGA Championship Shortcut Rules
The PGA Championship starts the week with 156 players in the field, but on Friday night, the field will be much smaller. At the conclusion of play, the cut will be made with only the top 70 players (and ties) advancing to play the weekend.
This cut makes golf the largest major championship, with the Masters taking only the top 50 and a tie while the US Open takes the top 65 and a tie. The Open Championship also uses the top-70 rule.
Projected cutting line
Although most of the field has just started their second rounds, the cut line is already taking shape. According to Data Golf, the cut line is predicted to be either three or four over par. Just after 1 p.m., there is a 36.8 percent chance the cut will come in three above and a 58.9 percent chance it will come in four.
