Joan Mir is now set to join Gresini in 2027 after confirming the return of the Honda rider by factory demand.

Joan Mir is reportedly set to sign with Gresini Racing for 2027 and 2028, ending a four-year stint with Honda.

Mir, 28, has had a difficult start to the 2026 MotoGP campaign, scoring just eight points from the opening five races, currently 11th, 25 points adrift of Honda team-mate Luca Marini.

Speaking on Friday, Mir’s manager Paco Sanchez confirmed that Mir will not be a Honda rider in 2027.

As reported CrashSanchez said: “Given the lack of news from HRC about the future, Joan decided to leave Honda at the end of the year in Jerez and asked me to find a good project for him.

“We’re making good progress but we haven’t finalized any deal yet. We hope to do so as soon as possible, but I can’t confirm anything else right now.”

The only thing that is certain is that Joan will not be a Honda driver in 2027.
