Como and Napoli played out a goalless draw at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, with neither team able to break even despite Como’s dominance in possession and chances.
The two sides arrived at Como with contrasting fortunes. Napoli finished second in Serie A with 69 points from 34 games, with recent wins in their last two matches. Como took fifth place with 61 points, looking to build momentum after a string of mixed results.
Como controlled the first exchanges at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium. The home team pressed high and moved the ball with purpose, quickly establishing themselves as the aggressors. Napoli settled into a compact defensive shape, content to soak up the pressure and look for opportunities on the counter-attack.
In the first half, Como created the best chances. Jacobo Ramón and Nico Paz worked tirelessly in midfield, creating space for their attacking players. Como registered five shots on goal, but found the opposite number of Jean Butez equal in all tests. The Napoli goalkeeper made crucial saves to keep the scores level.
Napoli rarely threatened in the first 45 minutes. Their attacking players found little space in a well organized Como setup. The visitors managed just one shot on target as they struggled to gain control of the game. At half-time, neither team had broken through.
The second half started much like the first, with Como continuing to dominate possession. The home team kept 57 percent of the ball and went forward constantly. Ramón received a yellow card in the 69th minute for a strong challenge. Cesc Fà bregas followed him in the referee’s book in the 78th minute.
Napoli gradually grew as the second period progressed. Kevin De Bruyne, introduced as a substitute, brought fresh energy to the midfield. Miguel Gutiérrez and Amir Rrahmani have remained firm at the back to deny Como any breakthrough. Matteo Politano received a yellow card in the 89th minute.
Como created more chances than their visitors but lacked the finishing touch. They fired 16 shots in total, with 10 from inside the box. Napoli managed just eight shots in response. Expected goals data favored Como at 1.29 compared to Napoli’s 0.63.
Neither goalkeeper was seriously affected in the final phase. Both teams seemed satisfied with a point as the game drew to a close. The final whistle confirmed a stalemate that left both sides unchanged at the table.
Como remains fifth with 61 points in 35 games. Napoli remain second, but have missed the chance to close the gap with the leaders. The draw leaves both sides with work to do as the season enters its final stretch.
