Matt Fitzpatrick’s second win in the RBC inheritance came much like his first, with a clutch approach on Harbor Town’s 18th hole during a playoff.
Fitzpatrick blasted a Ping i210 4-iron into the wind 196 yards on the 13th legs and sank the free throw to beat Scottie Scheffler after going 72 in regulation to allow the playoff.
Fitzpatrick, who has now won twice this season, hit the winning putt with his Bettinardi BB1 Flow Prototype putter, the same blade he has used for all four of his PGA Tour victories. But it’s not the shooter he used earlier in the year.
The 31-year-old’s return to world-class form over the past six months was first sparked in the fall when he followed the pro golf trend and switched to a Bettinardi BB48 medium hammer putter. it won with that bat in the World PD Tour Championship and used it for his first four starts of the 2026 PGA Tour season.
But Fitzpatrick missed strokes in all four of those events, so he returned to the blade that won him the 2022 US Open and immediately finished second at the Players Championship earlier. winning next week at Valspar.

Since returning to BB1, he has won strokes on the green in all four events and now has two wins, a runner-up finish and a T18 at the Masters. The two wins are the only two this season on the PGA Tour by a putter and the first two since last year’s 3M Open.
Fitzpatrick’s shot features a unique C-Groove face and is essentially a replica of the Yes! The Golf Tracy II he used in college, which Bettinardi took 30 prototypes to meet the discerning eye of the 2013 amateur champion. It is crafted from Bettinardi’s unique stainless steel (DASS), commonly used in their touring machines.
The most recent PGA Tour winner also has a 10-year-old set of Ping S55 grips with an old Ping CFS shaft that was a stock offering made by Ping a few years ago. His cuffs are very flat to compensate for his out-to-in swing path and help him launch the ball straighter with an attractive shot form.
