Although JJ Spaun missed out on success at the Masters, he already has a win under his belt at the 2026 Valero Texas Open.
When I took a closer look at his setup, one thing immediately stood out. This is one of the more mixed bags you’ll see on Tour. There is no single brand that dominates the setup even though it is a Srixon staff player.
JJ Spaun WITB (At a Glance)
1. The main clubs haven’t changed much
Spaun’s bag hasn’t seen much circulation.
Srixon Combination Set (ZXi5 long iron in ZXi7 short cuffs) has been a consistent part of his setup, along with Cleveland wedge AND Title driver.
A big change? Moving from a Scotty Cameron blade to LAB Golf DF3. This is a big change and one that we continue to see more of on the PGA Tour.
2. 3-Wood and 7-Wood each have a clear job
The 3-wood gives him a reliable option when the driver isn’t in play, whether it’s tighter holes or drives where control is more important than distance. The 7-wood occupies a completely different role as a high-release option on longer approach shots.
We are seeing more players adding 7-woods for this reason. They are easier to launch than long irons and provide better stopping power on the greens. It’s a move that amateur players should pay attention to.
3. Wedge placement is not just a pattern
You don’t always see this level of mixing in a tour wedge setup.
Spaun is mixed RTX ZipCore, RTZAND RTX 6 ZipCorewhich suggests that it is dialing in different sole and terrain interaction characteristics depending on the loft. The 50-degree is built for full shots, the 54 adds bounce and forgiveness, and the 60 goes with low bounce for agility around the greens.
It’s a small detail, but it shows how particular players get with the clubs that scoreespecially in that middle resort where versatility matters most.
Final thoughts
The biggest takeaway from Spaun’s golf bag setup is that it’s not about matching brands; it’s about making sure every club does exactly what you need it to do.
