Rory McIlroy WITB 2026: Comparing His Back to Back Masters Winning Purses

It’s always interesting to see which clubs a player uses to win a PGA Tour event.

In the Masters, that means a little more.

This year, we have something we don’t see very often. Rory McIlroy won at Augusta National two years in a row. This gives us a rare chance to compare one winning bag directly to another. Here are some details that stand out.

Masters 2025 vs 2026 winning purses

He switched gears this year – and he’s back

At the beginning of this season, Rory made a real change to his iron composition.

He put TaylorMade P7CB hollow back in the game, moving away from the RORS Proto blades he’s used for years. It was a noticeable change, especially for a player who hasn’t been away from the blades very often.

This change did not last long.

Before the Masters, he had already returned to:

  • P760 (4-iron)
  • RORS Proto (5–9)

The same combination he won in 2025.

Changing the driver is what stuck

Movement from Qi10 THE Qi4D is the most noticeable difference in the bag. It has the same shaft but a slightly lower loft than last year.

Rory spent most of 2025 with the Qi10 in his bag. He tested the Qi35 and even played it occasionally, but it never really stuck. He continued to bounce back at Qi10, including his win at Augusta.

of Qi4D he was the one who got stuck.

It was an easy switch early in the season and one that stayed in the bag heading into the Masters.

With another win at Augusta, a some of the trends we have followed keep on keeping.

  • Spider Tour X keeps showing up: There are now 3 of the last 4 Masters winners using a Spider Tour X (Scheffler 2024, McIlroy 2025, McIlroy 2026).
  • TaylorMade fairway woods remain almost inescapable: Make it 6 of the last 7 Masters winners with a TaylorMade wood in the bag.
  • The driver’s brand is centered at the top: With McIlroy’s win, 5 of the last 7 Masters winners have used a TaylorMade driver.

Final thoughts

A new driver. A different 5-wood. Updated wedges. Everything else remained the same, but Rory has another green jacket.
