Bryson DeChambeau hopes this week ends with his third major title and first Masters victory. The two-time US Open champion nearly clinched the deal last year, struggling Rory McIlroy in Sunday’s final pairing before handing him the green jacket.
Heading into this year’s Masters, DeChambeau is hot. He has won the last two LIV golf tournaments and betrayed some nerves in Wednesday’s Masters Par 3 contest.
In Round 1, DeChambeau got off to a textbook start in the first, but he didn’t fare so well in the second. Bryson missed his drive on the par-5 into the left woods, eventually settling for a bogey-6 to drop to one early. But he quickly got that shot back with a birdie 3.
After starting the opening round early, DeChambeau will move into the afternoon heat for Friday’s second round.
DeChambeau will tee off in the second round on Friday at 1:20 PM ET along with Matt Fitzpatrick AND Xander Schauffele.
