Oleksandr Usyk considers Agit Kabayel over Tyson Fury

Usyk is scheduled to return in May, with discussions surrounding a fight involving Rico Verhoeven gaining attention. Furthermore, Usyk outlined a route to the winner of Fabio Wardley vs Daniel Dubois for the WBO belt, with a Fury trilogy also being considered.

Kabayel was left out of the picture. That has now changed, with Usyk adding his stance in commentary Daily Mail.

“Maybe I’ll fight Kabayel – maybe I won’t face Tyson Fury for a third time and fight Kabayel instead.

“I’m just saying my plan, but it’s not set in stone. I understand the Agit fans say you have to fight him, you have to fight him. But I don’t have to fight him.

“I have to live my life, I have to take care of my team, my kids. When it comes to fighting, I just work hard and my opponents work hard.

“Look, maybe it’s possible for me to fight Agit. All I can say is he’s a great fighter and he’s very smart.”

The WBC position remains clear. Kabayel is the undefeated mandatory challenger, and pressure is building for that fight to be enforced.

However, Usyk is still looking at the bigger picture. A match with the Wardley vs Dubois winner would put another belt in play and put him on track to become a three-time undisputed heavyweight champion.

For now, Usyk has options. The order of those fights is no longer fixed, and Kabayel is back in the conversation.
