Returning from a ten-month layoff, Meinke established control early. She kept Vargas at bay, stepping in with straight punches and finishing combinations before moving out of range.
Vargas tried to push forward and land power shots, but she struggled to close distance cleanly. Meinke’s jab disrupted her rhythm and forced her to reset before she could build offense.
Through the middle rounds, Meinke increased her work rate. She planted her feet and let combinations go, mixing straight shots with hooks as Vargas followed her around the ring. The cleaner striking and sharper timing has consistently come from the Berlin fighter.
Vargas had moments when she stepped upfield and fired back, but Meinke quickly answered and returned to her jab to regain control. By the later rounds, the pattern was set, with Meinke dictating the pace and landing the more effective shots.
Over twelve rounds, Meinke controlled distance, landed the cleaner punches and clearly carried the fight on the scorecards to unify the IBF and IBO belts.
In the eight-round heavyweight co-feature, Peter Kadiru dropped Mauricio “El Demoledor” Barragan three times en route to a clear unanimous decision.
The 28-year-old took a few laps to settle, then began working inward and digging to the body. The first strikeout came in the sixth, a clean one-two that caught Barragan trying to hold his man.
Kadiru remained patient and kept walking him down. The second takedown followed from a heavy right hand as Barragan’s legs began to go. By then, the Uruguayan was reacting more than striking.
Kadiru pressed for the stop, released his hands again and dropped him a third time with another right hand. Barragan held, covered, and pushed through until the final bell.
The scores reflected the control Kadiru built throughout the second half, twice 80–71, 79–71. He moves to 22-1 (13 KOs). Barragan drops to 20-6 (12 KOs).
