Francesco Guidotti says Pramac Yamaha are ‘perfect’ for Toprak Razgatlioglu despite poor results

Razgatlioglu was fighting for supremacy. Yamaha In the Sprint Race at Buriram, the rider battled Pramac team-mate Jack Miller with two laps to go before falling from P15. The 29-year-old came in P17 at the Thai GP, ahead of Miller but third of the Yamaha rider.

Razgatlioglu admitted during February’s pre-season test that his motivation was “dwindling” due to his difficulty getting up to speed with the Yamaha M1 after dominating the World Superbikes. It has to adapt the braking system to the M1 and the Michelin tires.

However, Guidotti does not believe that Razgatlioglu is “injured” on the Yamaha M1 in MotoGP. Instead, the Turkish rider has moved to MotoGP in the “perfect” team with Pramac, as he is in a position to make a strong transition from World Superbikes.

Guidotti said. Fast weekI don’t see Toprak as a rookie making his way with Yamaha as a detriment. It’s more than just the bike.

“The right environment is crucial at this level. An experienced team but with a lot of feel for the bike, and I think he’s found a perfect fit in that regard.”

Even Guidotti believes that Razgatlioglu shouldn’t have expected anything more than the Pramac rider managed for the first time in the Thai GP. Yamaha ace Alex Rins took 6.239s to the checkered flag at Buriram to make it into the final points-paying spot.

“From my point of view, Toprak has done very well,” Guidotti said. “As a newcomer, realistically you couldn’t expect too much, even though he hasn’t been able to use much of what he’s put in over the years in MotoGP, the learning process is undeniable.

“Everyone knows Toprac. A MotoGP bike has nothing to do with a superbike. He experienced that on the track.”

Miller and Ducati test rider Michel Pirro finished the Thai GP behind Razgatlioglu with only Gresini standing in for the injured Fermin Aldeguer. Miller suffered a massive tire loss in Buriram, which helped Razgatlioglu get to the front before the tire went flat.

The factory Yamaha dual tire of Fabio Quattararo and Rins in P14 and P15 suffered less than the Pramac pair of Razgatlioglu and Miller in the Thailand GP. Razgatlioglu hopes to make a breakthrough in managing Michelin tires at the Brazilian Grand Prix this week.
