Eddie Hearn didn’t circle around it. He closed it straight.
The Matchroom promoter hit back after talkSPORT’s Gareth A Davies said Anthony Joshua already had a deal in place to face Tyson Fury, with a broadcast angle attached. Hearn made it clear that nothing has been locked down.
“Totally untrue. There is absolutely nothing signed with Anthony Joshua to fight Tyson Fury next. Nothing has been agreed.”
This is not a negotiating position. This is a flat denial.
Hearn explained that real discussions took place before Joshua’s car accident in Lagos. The plan at that stage was clear in the gym. Jake Paul first. Then a return early in the year. Then Fury.
That sequence broke the moment Joshua walked away from training.
“Since then there have been no discussions really about that fight, except in the last few days discussions with Dr. Rakan, Sela, to start thinking about revisiting the plan.”
Right now, it’s not a battle going on. This is early groundwork.
The broadcasting claim linked to the report also did not stand up. Joshua has been aligned with DAZN for years, and Hearn has given no indication that has changed.
Joshua is only now driving back to camp. The physical work comes first. The fights come after that.
Fury has his own business going. Arslanbek Makhmudov is next, and he has already started naming targets.
Joshua is one of them. But there is no contract in place.
Hearn made sure of that.
