Emiliano Vargas stops Agustin Quintana

Emiliano Vargas proved he can handle seasoned resistance, demolishing Agustin Ezequiel Quintana for a ninth-round stoppage at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

The scheduled 10-round junior welterweight bout served as main support on the Emanuel Navarrete vs. Eduardo Nunez card and offered Vargas his most experienced opponent to date. Previously a hot prospect, Quintana found early success with looping punches and clipped Vargas during competitive exchanges in the opening rounds.

Vargas stayed calm and worked behind his jab, changing stances and investing to the body. By the middle rounds, his speed and punch selection started to create separation. Combinations came in steady bursts, and swelling developed around Quintana’s eyes as the damage piled up.

The second half belonged to Vargas. He pressed forward with tighter, cleaner work, forcing Quintana back and limiting his return fire. Quintana continued to show determination, but he struggled to match the younger fighter’s output as the rounds progressed.

After nine rounds, with Quintana visibly marked and absorbing sustained punishment, the referee stopped the fight before the start of the 10th round. Quintana appealed the decision, believing he could have continued, but the toll of the later rounds made the strike defensible.

Vargas improves to 17-0 with 14 knockouts, adding a durable veteran to his record and showing growth under pressure. Quintana falls to 22-3-1 after wearing down over time. It was a necessary move for Vargas, and he handled it like a fighter anticipating bigger nights.
