Veteran Justin Rose he may be 45, but he’s playing some of the best golf of his life. Last season, Rose lost the Masters in a playoff to Rory McIlroy, then captured the 12th. PGA Tour victory in FedEx Championship St. Jewish.

Although he missed the cut in his first start of the season at American Express, Rose won’t be leaving the Farmers Insurance Open early. He shot an impressive 10-under 62 on the Torrey Pines North Course on Thursday. This gives him a one shot lead Justin Lower goes to Friday’s second round.

Rose will play the more difficult South course for the second round, where Brooks Koepka made his official PGA Tour return on Thursday. Koepka shot a 73 on the South Course to finish in a lead.
