West Indies reached 221 for 4, finishing at an excellent rate of one run per 11 overs. Although Keshav Maharaj stood out with economical figures of 2 for 22, South Africa’s bowlers found little respite.
Quinton de Kock presents a tattoo for the ages
Facing a formidable target, South Africa needed something extraordinary – and Quinton de Kock delivered just that. Playing his 100th T20 International, the veteran opener smashed a stunning 115 off just 49 balls to produce one of the biggest knocks in the format.
De Kock’s knock was a mix of power and accuracy, with 6 fours and 10 sixes. He dismantled the West Indies bowling attack, took the scoring rate to unprecedented levels and ensured that the chase never got out of South Africa’s control.
This century was also a unique milestone as de Kock became the only batsman to score twin centuries while opening in a successful 250-plus run in T20Is.

While de Kock stole the headlines, Ryan Rickelton played an important supporting role. The left-hander remained unbeaten on 77 off 36 balls, hitting over 200 at an astonishing pace.
The duo put on a formidable partnership of 162 runs in just 71 balls to complete the innings in South Africa’s favour. Their stand effectively neutralized the pressure of the chase and left the West Indies scrambling for answers.
