Perth Scorchers remarkably closed Major League Soccer 2025-26 campaigns by defeating Sydney Sixers He won his record sixth BBL title in front of a packed home crowd with six wickets in the final at Perth Stadium.
After winning the toss and dominating the trophy, the Scorchers’ decision paid rich dividends as their bowlers produced a disciplined and relentless performance to restrict the Sixers to a below-par level.
Perth Scorchers bowlers stifled Sydney Sixers after a fast start
Sydney showed early intent with the Sixers Steve Smith Hitting 24 off 13 balls provides a brief boost at the top. However, regular wickets prevented the visitors from forming any meaningful partnerships. Daniel Hughes went cheap Josh Philippe and Moises Henriques struggled to get up to speed despite spending time at the crease.
The middle overs proved crucial as Perth’s bowlers tightened the screws. David Payne was outstanding, picking up three wickets for just 18 runs Jhye Richardson although he overstepped some boundaries, he matched it with three important scalps. Little Mahli Beardman impressed with two wickets on the big stage and ensured the Sixers never really recovered.
Despite the small contributions Joel Davies (19 off 14) and Lachlan Shaw (12 off 14), the Sixers hit 132 for exactly 20 – a total that always looks light on a good batting surface.
Quiet pursuit led by Mitchell Marsh and Finn Allen
Chasing 133 for the title, Perth Scorchers approached the target with coolness rather than haste. Find Allen gave an early boost by smashing 36 off 22 balls to keep the required momentum in check. At the other end, Mitchell Marsh anchored the innings with 44 off 43 deliveries, combining well-timed aggression with caution.
Although Aaron Hardie fell fast Josh English ensured no hiccups of late. His fluent 26 off 29 balls kept Perth firmly in control, even as the Sixers tried to claw back with wickets. Sean Abbott and Mitchell Starc. The chase ended in 17.3 overs, securing a comfortable six-wicket victory and sparking celebrations at Perth Stadium.
