What’s really new – and why you should care

Tour Soft

The new 2026 Tour Soft has been completely redesigned with a thicker elastomer cover and new groove pattern to provide higher tip height with mid irons and longer distance and lower driver spin.

Titleist is always looking at what its players want from the next ball, and while Tour Soft players choose the ball based on the soft feelthey told the Titleist team they could use more distance off the tee and more stopping power on the green.

Without compromising the signature Tour Soft feel, Titleist created a new cover and made the core slightly smaller to reduce spin off.

“Our materials team found a unique blend of softening agents for the cover that helps us produce lower long game spin with surprising short game performance,” said Mike Madson, Titleist SVP of Golf Ball R&D. “When we talk about stopping power, the fairing is actually a little softer than the previous generation. So even though we’re moving the spin down in the long game to get more distance, we’re also getting a little more launch with the irons to increase the descent angle.

“It’s a great material that we’re able to fine-tune performance with, and it’s built into the backbone of our manufacturing process.”

A new quadrilateral 386 dipyramidal dimple pattern that is more consistent than the previous generation helps in higher launch, leading to more optimal flight.

Who is it for: Golfers on a budget looking for the best combination of feel and distance with higher tee heights.

Speed

With Titleist’s Velocity golf ball, more distance was unlocked by softening the ball’s core to reduce spin and lower trajectory.

To minimize the effect on ball speed from the softer core, the Inomer cover was reformulated to be stronger and release spin further from the tip.

“Anytime you get the compression down, all things being equal, it’s going to bring down the long game,” Madson said. “We paired it with a slightly stiffer non-numerical cover to add speed and further reduce spin in the long game. So you get that double hit of lower spin off the top along with a faster cover, all contributing to more distance.”

To give Velocity players a boost in distance, the Velocity has a new 350 octahedral dimpled design to reduce ball flight and optimize total space.

Who is it for: Slower-moving players looking for maximum speed and distance.
