If this season of gearless agents has seemed quiet, you haven’t been paying attention to PXG.
The company made its only major signing of the new year when it announced this PGA Tour rookie Marco Penge joined his Tour staff last week. Now, PXG has added another big acquisition in the form of Reigns PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Aldrich Potgieter. He was previously with Titleist.
“Last season showed me what it takes to compete here,” Potgieter said in a press release. “I’m focused on getting better every week, and PXG gives me the tools and support to do that. The equipment works, the process is straightforward, and that’s exactly what I’m looking for.”
Potgieter led the PGA Tour in driving distance last season at 325 yards by one stroke, meaning PXG will now have two of the PGA Tour’s tallest young stars on staff. Penge led the DP World Tour in Strokes Gained: Off-The-Tee and averaged 319 yards.
PXG also now has the last two PGA Tour ROTY Award winners, with Potgieter joining 2024 winner Eric Cole. This does not include Penge, who is the main favorite to win the award this year.
“Aldrich not only had a great rookie year – he set the standard,” said PXG founder and CEO Bob Parsons. “He is disciplined, powerful and knows what he wants from his gear. That clarity and competitiveness make him a great fit for PXG as he takes the next step in his career.”

Potgieter will play the new company Driver Lightning Tour as well as PXG’s secret weapon mini driver, GEN8 X driving iron, GEN8 0311 T 4-iron0317 ST 5-9 shackles, Sugar Daddy 46 & 60 Brandon Tour wedges and barrels. Notably, Potgieter is still listed on Titleist’s website as a “golf ball player.”
This is probably the last big hardware signing before the 2026 season. It’s been quiet, but PXG has been a big winner. The company is making a big bet on young talent and could potentially have three recent PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award winners on staff.
The gear changes are always volatile and worth watching, but it’s worth noting that both Penge and Potgieter will have a consistent golf ball from last season, which helps bring some consistency.
But with Potgieter, Penge and Cole, PXG are sending a message that they will be relevant among the game’s best for years to come.
