A fresh start for Andre Strauss after a deep loss
Strauss’s first wife Ruth McDonald died in December 2018 After battling a rare form of non-smoking lung cancer at the age of 46. The couple spent 15 years of quality time together, and her death had a profound effect on Strauss’ life and career.
After that, Strauss retired from cricket administration to focus on family and went on to found the Ruth Strauss Foundation, dedicated to providing research and support to families affected by non-smoking lung cancer.
