Chelsea host Swiss side Servette on Thursday evening in the first leg of their Conference play-off clash.
The Blues will qualify for the extended league stage if they can beat Servette in their two-legged play-off, playing in the continent’s third most prestigious cup competition for the first time.
The Enzo Maresca era officially began at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon when Chelsea welcomed Premier League champions Manchester City to west London in their first domestic game. Down 2-0, the Blues were largely outplayed at home, with former midfielder Mateo Kovacic scoring the final goal.
The upside of Chelsea’s bloated squad is that Maresca should have no problem fielding a good line-up for Servette’s visit. Filip Jorgensen, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Pedro Neto could be the first starters for the Blues.

Having been omitted from Chelsea’s squad for the Man City clashRaheem Sterling has also been withdrawn from the Blues squad to face Servette. Ben Chilwell was also missing on Sunday and has not made Thursday’s call-up either.
Center Wesley Fofana is a surprise omission from the squad to face Servette, while Reece James, currently serving a national suspension, will miss out through injury. The same can be said of left-back Marc Cucurella, who picked up a knock against City.
There was confusion about Tosin Adarabioyo’s status for the game, but he is said to be available.

The only concern for Servette ahead of Thursday’s clash is winger Dereck Kutesa. He has scored in the last two games for the club but is receiving significant transfer interest from elsewhere as the end of the window approaches.
Thomas Haberli is likely to field a similar side to the one that lost 2-1 to Braga last Thursday after making changes for the recent 7-1 Swiss Cup win over Signal.

Chelsea should get their first competitive win of Maresca’s reign on Thursday against a side currently in fifth place in the Swiss Superliga who were thumped 6-0 by Basel in their last league outing.
The Italian is likely to make changes from the side that went down to defeat against Man City and should provide a good opportunity for some new summer signings to make their mark.
