John Korir won the Boston 2025 and Chicago 2024 marathons. Then he had a rough race, a DNF at the Chicago Marathon. As his coach Ron Mann told me, sometimes athletes have a tough race.
John Korir went out on 7th December 2025 and ran a PB as well as a win in Valencia.
Well done Joe.
I just saw John’s brother Weasley at the Running Event. Wesley Korir won the Boston Marathon in 2012.

VALENCIA (ESP, December 7). Boston champion John Korir improved his lifetime best by 20 seconds to 2:02:24 (61:47/60:37), missing the world lead by just eight seconds and dominating the men’s race. Despite the wide margin of victory, other runners also set fast times and national records, with world silver medalist Amanal Petros of Germany second (2:04:03 EL/NR, moving into 3rd place on the European all-time lists), ahead of Norway’s Avet Naftalem Kibrab (2:04:24 NR) and Japan’s Suguru (2:04:24 NR). Great performance by British Olympic triathlete Alexander Yee, who improved by almost 5 minutes in his second marathon to finish sixth (2:06:38), ahead of France’s Felix Bour (2:06:41) and Holland’s Philemon Tesfu (2:06:42), both lifetime bests.
