Can’t stop wearing: Mountain Sun Knockdown Vest

Let’s get that out of the way first.

I’ve never been a vest guy. I can’t remember once wearing one on the golf course. But after spending days in the Sun Mountain Knockdown Vest, I think I might be a convert.

Yes, I’m a vest guy now. Deal with it.

And yes, THAT Mountain of the Sun. The one who created one of the most iconic golf bags of all time? If the C-130 is a good bag, the Knockdown vest is just as good.

When I looked at the weather forecast this week for my scheduled round at Pinehurst no. 2, I knew right away it was going to be a vest kind of day.

I run hot, so jackets don’t work for me on the course. As soon as I start walking around looking for the ball I inevitably hook in the woods, I’m toast. That’s why a vest is so perfect for me.

Walk the 18 holes at Pinehurst No. 2 made it abundantly clear to me that the vest is probably one of the most underrated pieces of clothing in golf. And, The Knockaroud vest from Sun Mountain has to be one of the best.

Honestly, I had a hard time finding anything not to like about it.

It was warm, but not too warm. It’s filled with down, so my body temperature stayed the same even as my game kept dropping after every unsuccessful full chip on those nasty turtle greens.

The round started at about 40 degrees and ended near 50. Honestly, it was the ideal temperature for a vest of this weight, size and warmth.

But the thing I loved most about it? No distractions. It didn’t create that distinctive “squeaky” sound you get from some pieces of outerwear. You know what I’m talking about, right? You can hear their arms rubbing their torsos from far away. Not with this vest.

To go along with the smooth material, the stretch of said material is also great. Absolutely no limitations, at least in my experience.

What don’t you like?

While I’m not a fan of the near $200 price tag, I can understand the value it offers. Lightweight for the course AND looks good enough to pull off the course.

The Knockdown vest is available at Mountain of the SunGolf Galaxy and select golf courses near you.

What I wore with it

Just like you had no idea Sun Mountain makes clothing, you probably didn’t know they just threw in a golf shoe too!

Sun Mountain teamed up with the new golf brand Alma Materfor excellent cooperation in them Beta Light Golf Shoes.

I’ve worn them a few times now and can honestly say, it’s a dark horse in next year’s golf shoe test. Comfortable, durable and light. Plus, this purple and mauve colorway is derived from an OG Sun Mountain bag.

Very cold.
