Brian Norman Sr. questioned Devin Haney’s intelligence today and discussed how he learned parrot lines from Floyd Mayweather Jr. and cannot think for himself.
Same lines, every fight
He notes that Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) uses the same terms from fight to fight, referring to himself as “levels above” his opponents and tagging them “C level.”
Norman Sr. saying that Haney has a “limited vocabulary” and is just a “bot”, and he says he is “embarrassed” for him because he keeps “saying the same things” during interviews.
Bill Haney had the charisma
In the past, Devin’s father, Bill Haney, has done much of the talking to promote his fights. Raised in Oakland, California, Bill was charismatic by nature, someone people just wanted to listen to. With Bill doing the talking, Devin didn’t have to sell his fights because he did all the work.
For Haney’s upcoming fight against WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOs), he’s done most of the talking, and it’s like the curtain being pulled back to give fans a glimpse of what his personality is like. Can Haney carry the buildup himself? So far I’d say it’s a big No. Norman Sr. did most of the heavy lifting to promote the fight and created interest with his sharp sound bites.
Norman Sr. see a person who has little to say and repeat the same lines; he is like a broken record stuck in the same place. Is Haney’s carefully crafted image finally starting to crack in public?

A good PR coach will help Haney by generating new material for him to discuss before an interview. Of course, this would require Devin to prepare for the interview, and there would be work involved. Acting classes will help Haney appear less wooden in front of the camera, because he doesn’t seem dissolute during interviews. There is a stiffness to him.
Norman Sr. calls Haney a robot
“He has no sauce like Brian Norman Jr. He can’t work without a mind he learned from Floyd Mayweather. He has to go off of something he read out of a book or he studied for 20 or 15 years,” Norman Sr. said. said about Haney. “Brian Norman Jr. has a mind of his own. Devin Haney doesn’t. He’s an a**** bot.
“In every fight he says, ‘I’m levels. He’s a C-level.’ (Haney) it’s embarrassing. I’m ashamed of you saying s***. You have a whole career to run, and you’re going to keep saying the same s***? They are not smart people. They are not smart people,” Norman Sr. said.
