The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released an official medical update on the Indian cricketer Shreyas eatshe confirms that he has been discharged from hospital and is recovering well from a serious abdominal injury sustained during the third Odi against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on October 25.

Iyer to stay in Sydney for recovery
Although the condition of the Iyer has improved significantly, the BTCI clarified that the 30-year-old fruit is not yet cleared for travel. He will remain in Sydney for follow-up consultations with medical experts until deemed fit to return to India.
“Shreyas will continue to stay in Sydney for follow-up consultations and will return to India once he is deemed fit to fly” Statement added.
The medical team will continue to closely monitor Iyer’s condition to ensure his recovery remains stable. The decision to keep him in Australia was made to minimize the health risks of air travel and to allow for continuous medical monitoring.
Immediate medical intervention was instrumental in stabilizing Iyer’s condition. He responded well to treatment and has been walking and communicating normally since discharge. BTSCI emphasized that although the condition is serious, recovery progress is encouraging and further surgical procedures are expected at this stage.
BTCI’s medical staff are in constant coordination with doctors in Sydney to ensure Iyer’s recovery plan is aligned with his long-term health and bending commitments.

Iyer’s injury comes as a major setback for India ahead of their upcoming home season Series against South Africa in November-December. A middle-order batsman, known for his anchor shots under pressure, Odi has been a vital part of India’s Set-up and known for his skills and ability.
While there is no official timetable for a return to cricket, the BCCI’s cautious approach suggests it is continuing to fully adapt once it is completed before being reintegrated into competitive cricket.
