If you care about scoring, the golf ball you play matters. MyGolfSpy’s 2025 golf ball test presented by UNRL shows how large the distances between patterns can be.
Getting it is simple: soft is slow but “stronger” doesn’t always mean taller. Trajectory, rotation and aerodynamics play an equally large role and, at certain speeds, they can completely turn the leaderboard. Here is a golf ball distance chart for each swing speed with the top 10 golf balls for distance.
How we test (quick summary)
Each ball in the 2025 test was purchased at retail, hit by a robot and compared to a Titleist Pro V1 control ball. We tested three-speed drivers and irons—high (115 mph), in the middle (100 mph), low (85 mph)—under continuous launch and spin targets.
The intention is not to show absolute yardage, but relative differences. How much one ball out- or under-performs another when all else remains equal. The results reveal a clear separation between constructions, compactions and cover types.
Top swing speed (115 mph driver)
At the top of the speed spectrum, high-compression touring balls still rule. of Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond led to 328 yards, curb outside PXG Xtreme Tour AND Bridgestone TOUR B X.
These models pair fast cores with flatter trajectories, but some mid-compression options like TaylorMade’s tour answer AND Titleist Tour Soft held their own. of Pro V1x Left Dash remained competitive, but finally there are challengers.
On the other hand, the TaylorMade TP5 ended up shorter at 310 meters. Its higher spin and steeper descent reduced the total spread.

Top 10 longest (high movement speed)
| Order | Golf ball | Total distance (yards) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond | 328.05 |
| 2 | PXG Xtreme Tour | 325.49 |
| 3 | Bridgestone TOUR BX | 324.84 |
| 4 | TaylorMade’s tour answer | 324.34 |
| 5 | Titleist Tour Soft | 324.27 |
| 6 | Srixon Z-STAR XV | 324.10 |
| 7 | Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash | 323.16 |
| 8 | Kirkland Performance+ v3.5 | 322.55 |
| 9 | Srixon Z-STAR DIAMOND | 322.40 |
| 10 | Wilson Staff Model | 322.15 |
Insight: At 115 mph plus, spin control steers the distance. All of the top performers paired fast ball speed with ~2500 rpm driver spin, the sweet spot for flight and strong spin.
Average swing speed (100 mph driver)
For the average golfer, distance still favors the harder urethane models. of Maxfli Tour X took first at 289 yards, followed closely by Srixon Z-STAR XV AND Callaway Chrome Tour X.
This set highlights how aerodynamics and roll balance beat pure compression. of PXG Xtreme Tour X AND Pro V1x it offered almost identical distance despite the slightly different feel. Softer balls like the ERC Soft and TOUR B RX stayed close, but gave up a few yards due to higher launch and spin.
The Srixon Z-STAR DIVIDE landed the shortest in the average velocity test at 275 yards. Excess rotation and height from the deleted DIVIDE benefits.

Top 10 longest (average movement speed)
| Order | Golf ball | Total distance (yards) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Maxfli Tour X | 289.39 |
| 2 | Srixon Z-STAR XV | 287.44 |
| 3 | Callaway Chrome Tour X | 287.17 |
| 4 | Srixon Z-STAR DIAMOND | 286.94 |
| 5 | PXG Xtreme Tour X | 286.86 |
| 6 | Titleist Pro V1x | 286.76 |
| 7 | Mizuno Pro | 286.66 |
| 8 | Wilson Staff Model X | 286.60 |
| 9 | Callaway ERC Soft | 286.08 |
| 10 | Bridgestone TOUR B RX | 286.05 |
Insight: Only four yards separated the top 10, but consistency of spin and consistency in peak height were the deciding factors. A mid-flight balanced ball gives better distance in the real world than something that is ultra-low spin.
Low swing speed (85 mph driver)
The biggest surprise of the test came here: Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond, a stronger ball at tournament level, it was also the longest for slower swingers at 224 yards. Low roll and efficient aerodynamics helped it beat the milder competition.
They were close behind Srixon Q-STAR Ultispeed AND Callaway Supersoftboth solid options for players looking for moderate spin and easy release.
In the end, the TaylorMade TP5 finished at 212 yards, showing how tournament-level swing can cost slower players a full club distance.

Top 10 longest (slow movement speed)
| Order | Golf ball | Total distance (yards) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Callaway Chrome Tour Triple Diamond | 224.22 |
| 2 | Srixon Q-STAR ULTISPEED | 223.92 |
| 3 | Callaway Supersoft | 223.90 |
| 4 | TruFeel title | 223.41 |
| 5 | PXG Xtreme Tour X | 223.15 |
| 6 | Maxfli Tour S | 222.57 |
| 7 | AVX title | 222.47 |
| 8 | Titleist Pro V1 | 222.34 |
| 9 | Heading speed | 222.11 |
| 10 | Wilson Staff Model X | 222.03 |
Insight: Compression alone does not determine distance. Low-velocity golfers still benefit from balls that keep spin below 3,000 rpm and launch high without ball, even if they aren’t the softest option.
Final thoughts
2025 data proves that all golf balls are not created equal. A few hundred revolutions per minute of rotation or a degree of change in peak height can shift the total distance by 10 yards or more. Whether you’re swinging at 85 or 115 mph, there’s measurable ground to be gained by playing the ball that best suits your speed and trajectory.
