Sabalenka She worked out of her time on her return to the tournament tennis – and returned to the business of victory.
In her first match since the capture of US Open, Sabalenka gathered in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 over Rebecca Sramkova remain invincible in Wuhan Open.
Sabalenka three times champion improved in 18-0 life in Wuhan, but it was not easy.
“I knew it would not be easy after a break to get to my rhythm, but I’m glad in the second set I found my game, went inside and played really great,” said Sabalenka, who played her first match since her last US Open Open Victory against Amanda Animova.
“I have to say that she played extraordinary tennis, especially in the first set and I couldn’t do much.”
World No.1 had to shake rust while Sramkova, who supported nine aces today, built a lead with a set and played with conviction.
Struggled by her candidacy in her fourth big career championship in Flushing Meadows, Sabalenka entered nine of the 11 points of rest today.
Sabalenka won eight of the first 10 points played in her service in the second set, then broke for a 3-1 lead of the second set. From there, the highest Belarus was thrown into seven of the last eight games.

Sabalenka set up her 2025 record at 57-10.

“I was first ‘daughter of China’, then ‘Queen of Rice Fried’,” Sabalenka said of her nicknames Wuhan.
“And then I talked to Qinwen and they actually call me ‘tiger’. So a lot of nicknames. I won so many tours here and feels like a house, I hope I can go all the way.”
