Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz will defend its WBC-Tus-Engine Light Welterweight title against Lamont Roach against Prime Minister Boxing Champions (PBC) on pay-per-viewing in San Antonio, Texas on December 6, Texas.
Roach’s payday chase
Roach (25-1-2, 10 cost), who parked his WBA Super Featherweight title while fetching pay days outside the division, will go into weight to fight Cruz (28-3-1, 18 COs).
Why wba is quiet
It is unclear why the World Boxing Association has not yet stripped of its title at 130, as it is his second consecutive struggle outside the weight class.
In the last battle of Lamont, he struggled on March 1, 2025 to 135 and struggled against the WBA lightweight champion Germavis on 1 March 2025. It’s great that Roach wants to pay, but it’s a rotten agreement with the contenders waiting for a world title in the WBA’s rankings on Super Featherweight.
Mike Coppinger reveal The news today that Cruz will fight at 140 pounds on December 6. Roach was born in Washington, DC and lives in Maryland.
Defensive puzzle ahead
Acing a defensive fighter like Roach can be a problem for ‘pitbull’ because he will have to find out his smooth goat style. It is unclear whether Cruz thought this one before he agreed to take this battle because it is a bad style for him. All three of Cruz’s career defeats came against fighters who exceeded him. He does better against fighters who mix it and allow him to use his power play.
Cruz, 27, won the WBC-Tus-Title title of 140 pounds on July 19, 2025 and beat Omar Salcido with a unanimous 10 round decision in Las Vegas. It was a good performance by ‘Pitbull’, which looked much better than he did a year ago when he was out by Jose ‘Rayo’ Valeznuela, and lost a 12-round decision on August 3, 2024 at BMBO Stadium in Los Angeles.
