David Ornstein provides an update on Man United’s future transfer activity

Manchester United will look to add to their attacking options in the upcoming transfer windows, according to David Ornstein.

United were busy in the summer and made five summer signings, including three defensive reinforcements as they bid to return to the Champions League.

It’s been a difficult start to the season for Erik ten Hag and it looks like he’s already under a lot of pressure, with United sitting in 11th place with two wins from their opening five games.

United are looking to add more attackers in the coming windows

United’s only attacking addition was Joshua Zirkzee, for whom they paid £36.5m and the Netherlands international has not scored since the opening game of the season against Fulham.

Zirkzee will provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund, but it looks like United could do with freshening up their attack and adding some different options.

At the moment, they don’t really seem to have a back-up for Bruno Fernandes with Mason Mount struggling since he arrived at the club, while they could look to replace Antony if he fails this season.

However, Ornstein has provided an update on United’s future transfer activity and stated that the Red Devils will look to strengthen in the forward areas in the coming windows.

“Erik ten Hag is still trying to impose some kind of style and identity, and bring some of these new players into the team,” he told the Back Pages Podcast.

“Zirkzee was the only attacking signing, and you felt that a bit more was needed. They will look at the back windows to improve in that department and get players fit, like Rasmus Hojlund of course.”

Despite the options United have, they have struggled for goals so far this season and have scored just five goals so far, with three of them coming against newly promoted Southampton.

Ten Hag hopes his side can find their goalscoring touch on Sunday when they host United Spurs at Old Trafford in what is already a crucial fixture despite the season still being in its infancy.
