At the beginning of this week Ping issued a limited edition of it G440 LST 7.5º driver, which a pair of Tournament players have been rumored to be playing in 2025. Tinkeres, Junkies and club players all felt an excitement of excitement with the release, but can any of us use normal players actually?
G440 V G430
The greatest benefit of the G440 formation over G430 was that Models G440 Starts more easily – not necessarily higher itself, but easier. This was great for the weekend players who need help to start the ball, but the elite players were even more attracted to the G430 penetrating flight. In the tour, the G430 LST was mainly dominated by 10.5º head, so those players fit beautifully into a 9º G440. For some 9º LST players, there were no easy -available switches available. That is to say, until 7.5º head came.
Rep Ping Tour Adam Harding also told me that Ping is using much heavier weights in the back position of G440 drivers compared to G430s. G430 weights may have been 19 or 21 grams, but G440 players are using 29-, 32- or even up to 35 grams weights in the back of the LST heads. Everydo gram you slam weight in the back of a G440 model increases MOI to the head by 1%. So in theory, some senior players are potentially playing LST drivers who have MOI numbers that violate MAX The territory of the head. And they are doing this while maintaining a lower rotary profile and the beginning moving to a lower lofted option.
It sounds like an ideal configuration if you ask … well, someone.

Harding also said that during the ping testing process without the speed of the ball increases with more weight in that rear gate. A specific tournament nugget that we can all want to try is to hit a driver with a lower attic than whatever is your “standard” with a weight of 32 grams in the back. It can be the difference.
It looks like the G440 series design was a perfect storm that combined more forgiveness, speed and release, even at the highest levels of the game. And the club is not just for tour players.
A head of 7.5º I could actually recommend
Fitters will confirm that many weekend fighters updated from G430 to G440 were able to lower attic while maintaining the right starting conditions, which helps to increase the ball speed AND improve control. More speed and ball control through the same release window that a player is used to? This is a recipe for success.
The next thing to remember here is that although the ping G440 LST is labeled as a “low rotating technology” head, it is not ultimately the lowest in the market. Once you go very little with rotation, there is a severe control of control. There is a little more space for LST errors compared to other markets in the market, and some of them are due to the Spinsstination facial pattern. LST has always been stable. G440 series ball speed and rotation holding in hits outside the center is potentially the northern star of the drivers market. Because the head does not start with a very low rotation, it allows players to have a miss that reduces the rotation, without entering the territory.

Due to the new head pattern, and the idea of weight added to the back of the head, the G440 series is easy to start. I would still say that a player should have a good speed to unlock the 7.5º head potential, but it definitely works for the player who can move it. I took one of the 7.5º heads a little early, and let a friend of mine borrow what is about the club speed of 120 km per hour. He hit the ball just as high, if not even higher than I am all day, and my peak height is about 115 meters. I can’t imagine how high that ball would have gone all day if he was in a 9º head, and that was only with the share of the stock in the 7.5º model.

I could also see this driver helping players with high spin crazy. The lower attic itself will help lower many of that rotation, and being able to manage the start to a higher rotary level will drastically help players who may feel lost with other options. You can still build the driver with a lot of backpack to promote remission (and increase speed, says Harding).
Not everyone has to finish and buy a 7.5º G440 LST, however. Please don’t do it. On the same day I pulled my head for a friend of mine to try for me, I tried to hit some balls. It didn’t go well. I am usually playing a 10.5º head, or a 9º head with a lot of back weight, and I do not know if I have the ball higher than about 75 meters. It was fast, it ran forever and it was really right, but not usable for a guy like me at speeds of about 112 mphs of the club and the speed of the 165 MPH ball.
There is a limited stock of 7.5º heads available in the fairway jackey for custom construction, so if you think the 7.5º option may be the right head for you, I will jump in the chance before they disappear. Ping is usually not confused with their limited dresses. When it is gone, it is likely not to return until we get a new generation G series.
Ping G440 LST Driver
The G440 Driver’s family (Max, LST, SFT) is optimized to deliver more ball speeds through multiple advances, including deeper cgs of ping on a driver to date and a shallow, thinner face as it continues to ensure the remission that is expected by a ping driver. The G440 LST design appeals to players at faster swing speeds, providing lower rotation and more control at 9 ° and 10.5 ° Lofts with the rear weight of the three positions. Very lighter pardon weight allows more severe backpack. The fastest shallow, thinner face, the face increases the velocity of the ball for more distance, higher release. The new shaping design, carbon crown and interior ribs produce silent impact experience. The free lid design saves weight in lowering CG, increases the apology. Allows for more face bending by the heel side for the constant ball speed across the face.
