MotoGP™ is delighted to announce that the Thai Grand Prix will be the season opener in 2025 and 2026. The Chang International Circuit in Buriram will welcome the world’s most exciting sport on interim dates from 28 February to 2 March 2025. It is the first time in 25 years that the season has started in Southeast Asia.
Thailand is a key market for MotoGP™, our manufacturers and the sport’s partners, supporting fans and the millions of two-wheelers on its roads. The first GP of Thailand was held in 2018 and so far over 800,000 fans have poured through the gates of Buriram during the four events held at the venue. Now, you are invited to watch a story made when the season first started in Thailand.
Sports Authority of Thailand Governor Dr. Gonsak Yodmani: “We recognize the many benefits of being the season opener. One of the things that will make the 2025 season particularly interesting is the significant ridership between teams. This will no doubt appeal to MotoGP fans around the world as they look forward to seeing the top riders on their new bikes for the first time in the Chang International sector. After nearly four months of offseason, this will be the opening tournament to show the dynamics of the new team. In addition, Dorna Sports, as the organizer of the event, plans to promote the season widely to raise awareness among motorsport fans worldwide. This will increase the visibility of the Thailand circuit and make it a must-visit destination for MotoGP fans from around the world.
“On behalf of the Sports Authority of Thailand, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dorna Sports and assure them that Thailand is fully prepared in all respects to host the 2025 and 2026 opening rounds.”
Carmelo Izpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, owner of the MotoGP™ rights: We are delighted to announce that the 2025 and 2026 season openers will be the Thai Grand Prix at Buriram. Southeast Asia is one of our most important markets for the sport and for our factories and partners. Thailand plays a leading role in that, and the demand is clear to see in the huge crowds we enjoy in Buriram year after year. We know they will create an incredible first season.
“As soon as Buriram joined the calendar, it became an instant hit. It’s easy to see why, it’s the perfect place to enjoy MotoGP™, with a setting designed to showcase the best of close racing – proven by the incredible show we enjoyed last season. We look forward to returning later this year and returning in 2025 for the history-making season opener.
Dates remain provisional until confirmed. The full, provisional 2025 FIM MotoGP™ calendar will be published by the FIM later in the 2024 season.
