Fils returned to Action in Toronto and defeated Pablo Carreno Busta in its opening before they lost to Jiri Lehecka 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Fils also partned Toronto finalist Ben Shelton in the double draw where they won two games.
Lucky French Loser Arthur Cazaux replaces the files in Cincinnati Draw and will play either compatriot Alexandre Muller or American Janon Brooksby in his opening.
