Erling Haaland equaled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the fewest games needed to score 100 goals for one club with his goal in Manchester City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Haaland hit 99 goals in 103 games and had the chance to take the record in his own right, only to keep a clean sheet in his 104th appearance for the club in the 0-0 draw with Inter in midweek .
Needing to find the net on his 105th start to equal Ronaldo’s record, Haaland opened the scoring at the Etihad against arsenalreaching a century of goals as fast as Ronaldo during his time with Real Madrid.
Haaland also becomes the 19th player to reach 100 goals city. Kevin De Bruyne was the last to reach the milestone in April.
The strike against Arsenal also saw Haaland break his own goalscoring record. He took his tally for the Premier League season to ten goals in just five games; never before had anyone reached double figures so quickly.
Haaland’s debut season in England began with ten goals in six games, equaling the record held by Micky Quinn in the 1992/93 season.
