Callum Smith vs. David Morrell: Eddie Hearn’s Riyadh negotiations for Ring IV Fight

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed this week that Callum Smith is negotiating against David Morrell on November 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Ring IV event. Hearn is in conversation with PBC and Turki Alalshikh to have the Morrell-Smith fight done. He is optimistic to make the battle do ‘Soon.’

Smith vs. Morrell negotiations

Hearn says he would have preferred Callum Smith (31-2, 22 COs) to fight one of the light heavyweight world champions, rather than defending his WBO-Tuss-entitled title of 175 pounds against Morrell (12-1, 9 COs). However, the world goat organization has ordered Smith to defend its interim title, while current WBO champion Dmitri Bivol focuses on the fight against a trilogy with Artur Betterbiev.

Callum, 35, has little choice than facing Cuban talent, Morrell. If he evacuates his WBO tuss -enthusiast belt he will lose his golden ticket It is necessary to get a title shot against the winner of the Bivol-Beterbiev 3 trilogy. This is a risky battle for Smith, but Hearn hopes he can deliver a similar performance as his last battle when he defeated Joshua Buatsi by a 12-round decision in a February war in Riyadh.

“We were talking to PBC. Callum Smith is looking for the David Morrell battle. Obviously he prefers to be a world title rather than his (WBO Light Heavyweight) in the meantime, but it’s a big fight,” the promoter Eddie Hearn said Pro Boxing fans About the David Morrell against Callum Smith competition that will be targeted in Riyadh on November 22.

“We are negotiating the fight with PBC and his excellence (Turki Alalshikh). I hope to raise the Callum Smith against David Morrell soon,” says Hearn.

Morrell’s recent victory

Morrell, 27, comes from an exciting 12-round split victory over Imam Khataev at Turki’s July 12 event in Queens, New York. The Morrell vs. Khataev -Grest stole the show on the map as the most exciting fight of the night.
