Talks of Hardik Pandya’s Test comeback have surfaced after the all-rounder was spotted practicing with the red ball recently. Since the last few weeks, the senior all-rounder has been working with the red ball, leading to many speculations about his Test comeback.
The fact that Hardik Pandya has been training with the red ball for the past few weeks could also be an indication that the team management will bring him to prepare for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. India are all set to tour Australia for a five-match Test series later this year.
Since the last couple of years, India has been without an all-round fast bowler and that certainly hinders their combination. They used Shardul Thakur in the role and he did a decent job but it is fair to say that Hardik Pandya’s quality is unmatched.
Pandya has been away from Test cricket since 2018. He last played for the Indian team in the longest format of the game during the Test series against the England National Cricket Team. In his short career so far, he has done some incredible things for the team.
Pandya last played 11 Tests for India, scoring 523 runs and taking 17 wickets, including a Test century and a fifer. He played important knocks for his team overseas, including a crucial 92 runs against the South African National Cricket Team in difficult conditions.
He has also had a decent first-class career as he has scored 1,351 runs at an average of 31.02 with a century and 10 fifties in 29 games. His best score is 108 and he has also taken 48 wickets with best figures of 5/28.
If Hardik Pandya ticks all the boxes on his fitness, he will feature for the team in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. If he makes it into the team, it will be a completely different team and they will have an excellent chance of winning their third Test series in a row.
Pandya has proven himself at big stages and thrives under pressure. Fingers crossed for his Test return. Indian fans would have hoped that he would play the Australia series and help the team win.
