The Olympic champion beat the Briton by just four-tenths of a second, Mary Moraa won the 800m and Jaroslava Mahuchych won another high jump title.
Julien Alfred pipped Dina Usher-Smith to the Diamond League 100m crown and ended her historic season in style.
Saint Lucia won her nation’s first ever medals in 100m gold and 200m silver in Paris.
As in the Olympic final, Alfred looked excellent and by 30m had already established a small lead over the rest of the field.
Dina Asher-Smith, who has been consistently amazing since the games with Alfred and nearly wins at the end.
The pair clocked 10.88 (0.2) and 10.92 respectively, with Daryl Neita fourth in 11.14 and Sha Curry Richardson eighth in 11.23.
Alfred will now return to St Lucia and the country has declared a national holiday to celebrate his 100m gold and 200m silver on September 27.
Both a motorcade and a mural of Alfred outside his elementary school are planned.
In the 800m, Mary Mora saw off Georgia Bell in the home straight to reclaim the Diamond League trophy she won in Zurich two years ago.
The world 800m champion was extremely strong in the finals and clocked 1:56.56 to Bell’s 1:57.50.
It’s been a great couple of weeks for Mora, who also became the fastest woman in history over 600m after clocking 1:21.63 at ISTAF Berlin.
Bell, meanwhile, ends his season at the Brussels Diamond League 1500m and can properly reflect on a season that has included an Olympic bronze medal and a British record over the distance.
Gemma Rickey was close to Moraa, Bell and Natoya Goul-Toppin in the first lap, but then faded in the home straight to finish fifth in 1:59.13.
Jaroslava Mahuchych won her third consecutive Diamond League trophy with a best distance of 1.97m to beat Nikola Ollislagers on countback.
The 22-year-old has had a great season, arguably the best of her career so far, with an Olympic high jump gold medal and world record.
A month before the Olympic Games, in the Diamond League held in the capital of France, the Ukrainian Mahuchykh also increased Stefka Kostadinova’s 37-year-old world record by one centimeter to 2.10 meters.
Mahuchych will now travel to his hometown of Dnipro in the off-season and see his family for the first time since October 2023.
The victory in Brussels was special for him, as the Heusden-Zolder base in Belgium was the Ukrainian’s home for a year and a half.
In the long-awaited 400m before the Diamond League, Sydney McLaughlin-Levron won in 49.11.
The multiple Olympic champion and world record holder, who owns a personal best in the 400m flat of 48.74, missed the US single lap record of 48.70 held by Sania Richards-Ross, but is sure to approach or break it next. : season
In fact, McLaughlin-Levron’s time was faster than the actual Diamond League winning mark after Olympic 400m champion Marilydi Paulino ran 49.45.
The chilly conditions – it was around 13C in Brussels – may have had something to do with some of the slower times.
