The Kieron Pollard Show
This sequence of events put more pressure on the Kings, who were already under pressure in a high-stakes game. To make matters worse, Joseph’s frustration only grew as the match progressed, with a wide call and a teammate’s injury impacting the team’s momentum.
Despite a competitive total of 187/6 set by Saint Lucia Kings in the first innings, the explosive-led Trinbago Knight Riders Kieron Pollardmade light work of the chase. Pollard played a captain’s knock, hitting 52 off just 19 balls, including seven powerful sixes, at an incredible strike rate of 273.68. His blistering innings was instrumental in Knight Riders chasing down a target of 188, sealing victory with four wickets and a ball in hand, finishing at 189/6 in 19.1 overs.
The loss capped a tough day for the St. Lucia Kings, who not only lost the match but also saw their key player involved in an altercation and their goalkeeper injured. Joseph’s frustration at the wide decision, coupled with Charles’ injury, disrupted the Royals’ rhythm and the Trinbago Knight Riders took advantage of these setbacks.
Pollard’s all-round performance earned him the Man of the Match award with his half-century and a crucial wicket in the first innings proving decisive. His ability to deal almost exclusively with sixes swung the game in Trinbago’s favour, demonstrating once again that he remains one of the most dangerous players in the format.
