Chelsea’s best players: August 2024

To say the least, August was a busy month for Chelsea Football Club.

In addition to being extraordinarily active in the transfer market (signing and selling approximately one million players), the Blues also began life under Enzo Maresca with five games in a row.

Two wins, two losses and a draw may not have been the result Maresca expected from these games, but there were some positives to take from the individual performances.

Here are Chelsea’s top performers of the month, according to 90 minutes estimated player ratings.

Moises Caicedo’s importance to Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea plans was made clear by the fact that he featured in every game in August.

The midfielder was even given the captain’s armband for the Blues’ UEFA Conference League first leg with Servette at Stamford Bridge.

Hopefully this will be the first of many times Caicedo will lead Chelsea at the Bridge.

Nicolas Jackson is perennially the butt of jokes on social media, but on the pitch he’s doing pretty well.

The stats prove it: two goals and one assist in three Premier League appearances is nothing to sniff at.

Chelsea have Christopher Nkunku to thank for their progression to the ‘league’ stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League this season.

The French striker scored crucial goals in both legs against Servette to see the Blues through.

Best Performance: vs Wolves

All in all, it’s safe to say that August was a very good month for Cole Palmer.

As well as continuing his good form from the 2023/24 season with five goals in three games, four of which came against Wolves alone, Palmer also lifted the PFA Young Player of the Year award. A beautiful

Considering how many strikers Chelsea have on the books, we weren’t sure if Noni Madueke would get much playing time under new boss Maresca.

Despite these options, Madueke has had plenty of playing time and has made the most of it.

August 2024 was indeed the best month of the wide forward’s career so far. And his hat-trick against Wolves was also the best of his career.
