One cannot help but think that it is a Self -serving movement by Haney By motivating Kambosos with the hope of the two meetings in a trilogy in Australia as things fall apart for Devin in his 2nd battle against Jose Ramirez. If Haney loses that fight, he will need Kambosos.
In fact, it is doubtful that it would matter if it was the highly popular Ryan Garcia as the opponent for ‘the Emperor Kambosos. Aussie fans apparently lost interest in viewing Kambosos’ battles, which the promoter Eddie Hearn did not take note of it in advance. If he knew how gloomy things were for Kambosos, he would be able to put a must-watch talent in the lead role to drive ticket sales in Sydney.
Haney deprived the then IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight champion Kambosos before a massive crowd of 41.129 fans on June 5, 2022 at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Kambosos was popular in Australia at the time, and had a victory over Theofimo Lopez and worshiped his Aussie fans.
