When did Danny Walker arrive Tpc saw Thursday morning, he didn’t have a great time for Championship. But shortly thereafter this would change and leave PGA Tour Rookie torn in his car.
Walker, a 29-year-old locals in Florida, ended the 28th at the Korn Ferry tournament last year to win his PGA Tour card for the first time. But a PGA Tour card does not automatically win a place in the players, the PGA Tour Flag event.
After playing in four smaller events to start the 2025 season, Walker was on the outside looking for players. But Just a little outside. He reached Ponte Vedra Beach on Monday as the first alternative. If a player withdrew before the first round he would be on the field.
A call of early morning players
On Thursday morning, Walker still had no time, but he woke up early and prepared for the round only in case. Then at 7am his phone was buzzing. It was the competition committee. Former Great Champion Jason Day was withdrawn in the last minute due to the illness, and now Walker would take his place at 8:46 p.m.
“It was probably around 7:00 am, so I had a lot of time. I was planning to be in the range around 7:20 Any pm anyway, so I just moved everything back like 20 minutes, so yes, it worked well, like the wise time,” Walker told journalists on Thursday night.

Monumental news hit Walker tight, so after warming, he turned into his car to let everyone dive, and he agreed to shed a tear at the moment.
“This would say the world to me. I wanted to play this event since I was a little kid, especially living here in the country, ”Walker shared. “I looked at it a lot of time in the last few years, so yes, I couldn’t be more excited. As, honestly, I went and sat in my car for a few minutes later and just a little one let me hit me a little, maybe let it go out.
It turns out that lowering his car in front of a round is a standard part of Walker’s routine, but this time it felt different for obvious reasons.
“Yes, I usually like to do a few minutes of quiet meditation before, but I just – at that moment I tried to reflect, you know, just who I was when I was a kid, just always wanting to play at this event and finally actually playing in it,” he said. “So yes, but I tried to allow emotion early, so I could rest and go play.”
He continued in detail why he became exciting when he won his place in the tournament.
“Some of them were just a little shock, because I really didn’t expect to get inside. Just as I was assured I was prepared, but I didn’t really expect it,” Walker said. “Then you have to go to play with two big champions. That was like, oh, as we are here (laughing).”
The grouping followed by Walker stars
The two main champions that Walker referred to are Jordan Spieth AND Wyndham clark. If the last -minute pressure on the players was not enough, Walker would have to play along with the two best the best, whom he had never met in front of Thursday.

But he did not let the Star’s power shake his faith.
“They were good guys to talk to him,” Walker told the Spieth and Clark meeting in Tee. “So it was very normal after that.”
So how did he do on his first day of players? Walker’s opening round was an adventurous. Highlights included five birds, including a memorable 2 in the 17th hole of the island-Green. He opposed it with four bogeys and a double bogey for one over 73.
Walker will still be within the striking distance of the cut line when He leaves for round 2 Friday at 1:51 pm et.
