Of the 17th is also a part of an iconic stretch finished with water that produces an excellent drama for the PGA Tour Marquee event of the season
This week, there is a lot of star power (and a lot of money for capture) in Sawgrass, as 48 of the 50 leading players in the world are on the field. (No, Tiger Woods is not.)

2025 player championship elections to win
Jack Harsh, editor of associate equipment: Collin Morikawa. I wrote the name of Scottie Scheffler as six times here, but I just can’t understand someone who wins three years in TPC Sawgrass. Morikawa is hitting the ball, and he has ever had, which says something giving his fruitful ball. I don’t expect a hang of Bay Hill’s loss.

Kevin Cunningham
Jessica Marxbury, Senior Editor: Shane Lowry. He has never finished better than 8 in 10 appearances at TPC Sawgrass, but I think this is the year Lowry claims. Florida Golf fits him, and he has played well for the last two weeks, ending T11 in Cognizant and 7th in Bay Hill. He is a favorite, but not a favorite, so he should be able to play with freedom.
Josh Sens, senior writer: Sepp Straka. Always a great ball, he finished T16 last year. This year, he enters the Sawgrass with a very improved game. This is good for a guy who seems to be in the mix almost every time he ties it.
James Colan, news editor and features: Ludwig Aberg. Smart money is betting on Scottie Scheffler this week, but I’m not smart, so I’m revolving with Aberg-a talented player from the fresh Uber by the biggest victory of his new career. Players are a springboard in great championship glory, and this is the year of Aberg to do it.
Claire Rogers, Director of Social: Scottie Scheffler. You know who couldn’t get it with three peat this year? Kansas City chiefs. You know who can? Scottie Scheffler in TPC Sawgrass. I think the world no. 1 makes it become (again). His latest victory was in hero World Challenge, which is about two years in the time of Scottie Scheffler. In other words, it is due to a victory this week.
Zephyr Melton, Assistant Editor: Scottie Scheffler. I’m not going to overthrow this. Scottie may not have a win on his card this season, but he is still the best player on the planet. Sawgrass suits his game well, and as long as he also brings his B game, he will be on the front page of the manager’s table to come on Sunday.
Nick Pastowski, Senior Editor: Justin Thomas. The three-year extension without a victory ends here. Sawgrass requires shot form, and when he is right, JT is one of the best to do it.
Josh Berhow, Managing Editor: Scottie Scheffler. I didn’t want to choose it, really didn’t, but it’s hard to ignore the boy who has won the last two who also happens to be the best player in the world and is not even close. He has not even had his best things this year and has three Top-11 conclusions on four starts. He has also rarely destroyed as others. And the pressure, as always in the swagrass, will be Emcee.
