A three-time All-American in Ucla MacKenzie McDonald know everything about the value of higher education.
Now, McDonald is paying him forward helping young players pursue college dreams.
USTA Foundation, Charitable Wing of the United States Tennis Association Incorporated (USTA), along with Meckenzie Professional Tennarist (Mackie) McDonald, announced today the beginning of MACKIE MACKIE MACDONALD College Fund of the Usta Foundation Foundation.
MACKIE MACKIE MACDONALD College Fund It is a new initiative that will provide individual player grants for high school elderly who will continue their tennis career at the collegial level.
The Fund will directly support students-athletes who progressed through the Playing Tennis network through the National Tennis & Junior (NNIC) Network of the UNTA Foundation, a nationwide group with more than 250 sports-based community organizations that use tennis as a means of preparing young people from communities under their future.
McDonald, who has reached a high career world no. 37 In the ATP Singles rankings and no. 49 In the rankings of the ATP doubles, and defeated the famous Rafael Nadal in the second round of Australian Open 2023, he had a collegial career of the Stellar Division before returning a professional.
A local Piedmont, Calif., McDonald competed for UCLA Bruins from 2014-16, winning honors of all America of three years. He finished his last season ranked first in bachelors and double in the ITA College rankings and included the titles of NCA Singles and Double in 2016, making him the first man in 15 years – and only the fifth since 1974 – to realize Feat.
Through the UNTA Foundation, McDonald is now using its experiences and platform to inspire the next generation of college students to accomplish what is possible and hopes that this fund will help young people understand the importance of education, and promote their personal growth in sports and beyond.
“Going to Ucla turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made in my life, and for my life, and I’m happy to play a part to help young people pursue their dreams in college, inside and outside the court,” McDonald said. “Working towards ensuring that all young people, regardless of they come, are able to unblock all the benefits that higher education has to offer is a responsibility that means so much to me, and I cannot expect to see how this fund supports not only young people and their education, but their families and communities.”
