FIFA has confirmed the launch of a world team of 16 women’s teams, which will debut by 2028.
The tournament, which was originally scheduled for 2026, was suspended after the persistence of the governing body to ensure that there is a suitable space in the soccer Calendar for the competition.
Given the starting after a FIFA advisory meeting on Wednesday evening, the Women’s Club World Cup has now been confirmed for a launch in January 2028.
The tournament, which will be held every four years, will have 16 teams from all over the world, each with a different path to the qualification. In the meantime, FIFA will launch the Champions Cup by 2026. The six -team competition will take place annually, excluding the years when the Club World Cup will be played.
